I rolled over in bed and stretched like a feline. That was the best night’s sleep I have had since... Well, I don’t think I have ever slept so well. Touching the cool place beside me, I realized Mithraheal had been up for quite a while.

A smile formed on my lips as I thought about him. He was absolute eye-candy, and he was also so unbelievably sweet. The fact that he wasn’t creeped out at all by my shifted self was a relief, it was as if seeing a half-dragon and half-human girl was an everyday occurrence. Although maybe it was just me who needed time to get used to my new appearance.

I thought about his smiling bronze eyes, and how they went soft when he looked at me. I remembered how wonderful his arms felt when he held me and kissed me. I would give anything to be pressing my lips against him right now. I imagined feeling his slow, soothing heartbeat against my palms, and the firmness of his lips against mine.

Holy cannoli. My imagination has gotten pretty dang vivid. It seemed incredibly real. His heated breath moved against my lips, his hands glided up my back leaving my skin tingling. I opened my eyes to break the trance I was in before it went further, only to find my lips pressed up against his.

Before I could express my shock, Mithraheal let out a yelp and pushed back from me, sending me tumbling off his lap. I landed on my backside with a thump. As suddenly as I had been tossed off his lap, I found myself gathered back in his arms while his hands checked me all over for injuries. He moved so fast, I worried I might have whiplash.

This time, it was me who let out a surprised screech when his hands drifted across my derriere. I smacked his hands away. “How did you sneak in here so quietly? I didn’t even hear you coming. You nearly gave me a heart attack.”

He erupted into a deep, rumbling laugh that curled my toes. “Look around, Tia.”

“Why would—” I peered around and realized I was in an office. I was no longer in the silk-covered bed. “How in the world did I end up in here?” I squeaked.

“I was hoping you could tell me. I was sitting here replying to some emails, and the next thing I know you are straddling my lap and kissing me. Not that I minded in the least.” He leaned forward and nipped my bottom lip.

I was apparently easily distracted. I giggled and gave a playful growl when he drew away.

The office door swung open so hard it crashed against the wall. “She’s gone. I went up to offer her breakfast like you suggested and the room was empty. Obviously, no one has broken in or we would have sensed them, but where could she—”

Damien trailed off as he belatedly realized I was sitting on Mithraheal’s lap with his arms wrapped around me.

“How did you get in here?” Damien demanded.
